Stretch Wrapping Machines

Author: Le Van Thang, Director of ICD Vietnam – 15 years specifying wrapping lines.

Stretch wrapping machines wrap pallet loads consistently and cut film cost versus hand wrapping. ICD supplies semi-automatic turntables, high-output VFD turntables and self-propelled robots – from the 38-million-dong ICD-X0MS (15-20 pallets/h) to pre-stretch robots and the Robopac S7. Prices include VAT, delivery, installation and operator training. Match the machine to machine-grade stretch film. See the full toolkit on the packaging supplies page.

Choose a wrapping machine when:

  • Over ~30-50 pallets a day: consistent wrap and film saving offset the machine cost.
  • Film cost is high: pre-stretch (up to 300%) slashes film per pallet.
  • Wrap quality varies by operator: a machine removes the human variation that causes load failures.

1. Machine line-up by throughput and price

Model Type Throughput Price (ref.)
ICD-X0MS Semi-auto turntable, 220V 15-20 pallets/h 38 million d
ICD-X0PS VFD turntable 25-35 pallets/h 75 million d
ICD-2000BF Ultra Premium turntable, 380V 35-50 pallets/h 85 million d
ICD-Maxgo Lithium robot 25-35 pallets/h 115 million d
ICD-XT4550 Robot, pre-stretch 300% 35-45 pallets/h 135 million d
Robopac S7 Italy Li-ion robot 40-50 pallets/h 350 million d

Prices incl. VAT, delivery in Hanoi/HCM, installation and training. Max load 1,500-2,000 kg (turntables); robots have no load limit.

2. Turntable or robot – and where pre-stretch pays back

The choice splits on two axes. Turntable vs robot: a turntable spins the pallet while the film carriage stays put – simplest and cheapest, ideal for a fixed wrapping station under 150 pallets/day. A robot (self-propelled or pre-stretch) drives around the load, so it suits scattered wrapping points, IBC tanks, oversized loads and very high volume where no single station can keep up.

Pre-stretch is where film cost drops: a 300% pre-stretch head turns one metre of film into three of wrap, so on a high-volume line the film saving alone can repay the price step up to a pre-stretch robot (the ICD-XT4550) within months. Size it to real throughput: 220V semi-auto for under 50 pallets/day, VFD/premium turntable for 50-150, pre-stretch robot for 200-300, and a top-tier Robopac for three-shift FDI plants. Over-buying wastes capital; under-buying bottlenecks dispatch.

3. Frequently asked questions

1. When does a wrapping machine pay off?

Typically over 30-50 pallets/day, from consistent wrap plus film saving. Pre-stretch machines repay faster where film volume is high.

2. Turntable or robot?

Turntable for a fixed station under ~150 pallets/day; robot for scattered points, IBC tanks, oversized loads or very high volume.

3. What does pre-stretch save?

Up to 300% elongation means one metre of film becomes three of wrap – large film savings on high-volume lines.

4. Is installation and training included?

Yes – reference prices include delivery in Hanoi/HCM, installation and operator training, with a 2-year warranty.
