ICD Vietnam supplies 8 lines of industrial plastic crates: solid-wall containers, open crates, lidded containers, large bins (B series), HDPE square tanks, component trays, lidded crates, and produce crates. Material is PP copolymer or virgin HDPE - no recycled content, food/pharma-grade when required. Prices from VND 25,000/small tray to VND 8,500,000/5,000L fish-farming tank. Common modules: EU 600×400 and 400×300 (European standard), KS 478×378 (Korean standard for Samsung/LG suppliers).
When to choose plastic crates over carton/wood:
- Used >15 cycles: cost per use is only VND 145-370 versus carton at VND 1,200-3,100
- Wet/washable environment: food plants, cold storage, 85°C washing lines

When to USE / NOT USE Plastic Crates
USE plastic crates when:
- Lifecycle >15 cycles (internal logistics, 3PL warehouse)
- Wet, watery or greasy environment
- Need to integrate automated conveyors, AS/RS racks
- Washing and disinfection required (food, pharma)
- Valuable goods needing impact protection
- Two-way transport (reverse logistics) - choose folding crates
- Need modular uniformity with international pallets
- End partner requires a standard (Samsung, Toyota, IKEA)
Do NOT use plastic crates when:
- One-way, single-use orders (long-distance, no return)
- Small end-user consumer goods (carton makes more sense)
- Holding aromatic solvents benzene/toluene/xylene
- Outdoor use >1 year without a UV stabilizer
- Class 1 hazardous chemicals (epoxy steel containers needed)
- Extremely tight initial budget (carton is 6-8x cheaper)
- Ultra-hot goods >100°C (switch to metal containers)

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does the EU 600×400 crate fit every warehouse rack?
Compatible with most standard racks: Selective Rack (1100-1400mm beam), Drive-In, Mezzanine, Carton Flow. For automated AS/RS, AGV/AMR racks, check the ±2mm tolerance - ICD EU crates meet the EPAL ±2mm standard, fitting Daifuku, Dematic, Swisslog. For self-designed racks: measure the actual gap; it must be at least 8-10mm wider than the crate.
2. How do PP and HDPE differ? Which should a food plant choose?
PP withstands 100°C (85°C sterilization), HDPE stays flexible to -40°C (freezing). Ordinary food (room temperature): choose PP - 10-15% cheaper, easily FDA-compliant. Frozen food at -18°C: HDPE is required to avoid brittle cracking. Both must be virgin food-grade with FDA/EU 10/2011 certification.
3. How many cycles does a plastic crate withstand?
Virgin PP/HDPE: 500-1,000 cycles under normal conditions (5-10 years at 2-4 cycles/week). Folding crates: the hinge withstands 5,000-10,000 separate open/fold cycles. Signs to replace: hairline cracks, deformation, >30% discoloration, clearly reduced load when stacking.
4. What resistance does an ESD crate need to meet ANSI/ESD S20.20?
The 10^4 to 10^11 Ω range. Conductive (10^4-10^6 Ω) for grounded floors, racks and conveyors. Dissipative (10^6-10^11 Ω) for component transport crates. Measured with an STM11.11 surface resistance meter at 5 points, at 23°C ±3°C, 12% ±3% humidity. ICD provides measurement certificates and a re-inspection service every 3-6 months.
5. What permits does a 1,000L IBC carrying chemicals need?
Per Decree 42/2020/ND-CP: hazardous chemicals need UN packaging certification by class (Class 3 flammable liquids, Class 8 corrosives, Class 6 toxics), GHS labels, a vehicle with a dangerous-goods transport permit, and an ADR-certified driver. ICD IBCs meet UN for groups 3, 8, 9. Clean water, salt solutions, molasses: no permit needed.
6. What is the MOQ?
Sold from 1 crate, no hard MOQ. Small orders <10 crates have a high per-unit cost. Optimal: order by pallet configuration (24-48 crates/pallet). Custom orders (logo printing, Pantone color, custom size): MOQ 500 crates of the same model due to mold change or print-machine setup - production time 15-25 days.
7. How long does printing a logo on a crate take?
3 methods: Hot stamping VND 5,000-8,000/crate, single-color logo <100cm², 7-10 days. Screen printing VND 8,000-15,000/crate, 1-3 colors, 10-15 days. IML (In-Mold Labeling) VND 15,000-25,000/crate, multi-color, most durable, MOQ 1,000+ crates, 20-30 days + label mold cost.
8. How do I clean a plastic crate properly?
3 levels: Level 1 - water + 1-2% soap, nylon brush (dry goods). Level 2 - 60-85°C water + food-grade sodium hypochlorite 100-200ppm, rinse twice, air-dry (food). Level 3 - autoclave 121°C/15 min or peracetic acid 0.1-0.3% (pharma). Avoid concentrated gasoline/acetone (swells PP), avoid water >95°C for PP (deformation).
9. Can a folding crate with a broken hinge be repaired?
1 cracked-but-not-fully-broken hinge: keep using with a 30-40% reduced load for 2-3 months before replacing. A snapped 1/4 of the hinge: ICD replaces the part at VND 80,000-150,000/crate. 2+ broken hinges or a broken body: repair not recommended - cost is close to buying new. Folding-line warranty: 12 months for manufacturing defects, excluding impact/overload.
10. Can open crates withstand sun and rain outdoors?
PP/HDPE is not damaged by water, but the contents will get 100% wet through the mesh - an HDPE cover tarp is needed. The bigger issue is UV: standard crates become brittle after 6-12 months outdoors. Order the line with a UV stabilizer (HALS additive) - lifespan rises to 4-6 years, price up 12-18%.
11. Can custom sizes be ordered?
3 options: O1 - choose the nearest model + plastic partitions, suitable for <10% difference, no mold change. O2 - use an existing mold, adjust extras (handles, drain holes), setup VND 20-50M, MOQ 1,000+. O3 - a brand-new mold, VND 200-500M depending on size, MOQ 5,000+, 60-90 day development. Orders <5,000 crates: choose O1 or O2.
12. How long is the warranty?
EU/HP/B series PP/HDPE: 24 months for manufacturing defects. HDPE square tanks >100L: 36 months body, 12 months accessories. IBC 1,000L UN: 36 months bottle, 24 months steel cage. Folding crates: 12 months hinge, 24 months body. Excludes: hard impact, overload, chemicals outside the compatibility list, use outside the allowed temperature.
