Danpla Corrugated Plastic Sheet Applications in Industry

Reviewed and updated by ICD - Week 38/2026

Danpla corrugated plastic sheet is used across virtually every industry that requires packaging, storage, or transport of goods. Waterproof, reusable 50-100 times, and 50% lighter than wood - these properties are why danpla is steadily replacing cardboard, wood, and foam throughout internal supply chains. This article covers 8 main industry applications with specific analysis for each use case.

1. Electronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing

This is the highest-volume application for danpla in Viet Nam, concentrated in industrial zones in Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, and Binh Duong. The critical requirement: ESD (electrostatic dissipative) danpla must be used, coloured black, and certified to IEC 61340-5-1.

Main danpla products used: ESD component boxes 600×400 mm, ESD box dividers, EPA workstation liners, ESD slip sheets between tray layers. Factories operated by Samsung, LG, and Canon in Bac Ninh require all packaging in EPA zones to carry ESD certification - without certification, materials are refused at the warehouse gate.

Advantages over alternatives: 70% cheaper than aluminium ESD boxes, 60% lighter, and easy to resize. Compared with ESD foam boxes, danpla is stiffer, does not crumble, and can be cleaned with IPA alcohol.

2. Logistics and Warehousing

The largest-volume application by quantity: pallet floor liners replacing cardboard and wood. A warehouse of 5,000 m2 with 500 pallets in active circulation requires approximately 1,000-1,500 danpla sheets (4 mm) to line between load layers.

Real case study: A logistics company in Hai Phong switched from cardboard to danpla floor liners in 2024. Before the switch: cardboard replaced every 3 weeks, costing VND 8 million per month in materials plus 2 workers spending 4 hours per week collecting and disposing of waste. After the switch: 800 danpla sheets (4 mm) purchased for VND 44 million upfront, with 5% replacement per year (VND 2.2 million per year). Savings of VND 93 million per year in materials alone, not counting labour.

Main danpla products used: Floor liner sheets 1220×2440 mm (cut to pallet dimensions), folding boxes in carton style, inter-layer sheets between load layers.

3. Textiles and Footwear

Danpla sheets are used as fabric-roll box liners, raw-material box dividers, and cushioning pads between fabric bales. Textile environments typically have fibre dust and high humidity - danpla does not grow mould and fibre dust is easily cleaned off with compressed air or a cloth.

For footwear exports: factories in Binh Duong and Long An use 3 mm danpla sheets as internal liners inside export cardboard boxes to increase rigidity and block moisture from the outside. The danpla sheet is placed at the base and all four sides inside the carton - a hybrid solution that reduces cost compared with all-danpla boxes while still being rigid enough for sea-freight export.

4. Automotive and Mechanical Engineering

Automotive components require surface protection throughout machining and transport between workshops. Danpla at 4-5 mm is stiff enough to line container floors, divide parts-holding trays, and act as protective pads for painted surfaces.

Key properties: PP danpla resists industrial oils and greases, mild solvents, and temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees C. It can be cleaned with soap or diluted solvent. No rust, no insect damage - well suited to metal and mechanical-parts storage.

5. Agriculture and Greenhouse Structures

UV-stabilised danpla is used as greenhouse wall panels, rain covers for nurseries, and water-flow dividers in hydroponic systems. It is 10 times lighter than glass, easy to cut and assemble, and 5-8 times cheaper than glass.

Dual-wall danpla at 4-6 mm has a lower thermal conductivity than glass - it retains heat inside greenhouses at night better than single-layer glass. Outdoor service life with UV additives: 3-5 years. Suitable for small to medium-scale greenhouse projects that do not justify the cost of specialist glass.

6. Advertising and Print Media

Signs, standees, and event backdrops use 3-5 mm danpla as a UV-print substrate. Advantages: lightweight (easy to transport and install), waterproof (suitable for outdoor use), and 40-60% cheaper than aluminium composite panels.

Print techniques on danpla: direct UV flatbed printing (most common), heat transfer printing, and post-print decal application. UV printing delivers sharp colour with an outdoor durability of 2-3 years. A 1.5×3 m UV printer can print directly onto a 1220×2440 mm danpla sheet without pre-cutting.

7. Surface Protection in Construction

Danpla at 2-3 mm protects marble and wooden floors during interior finishing work. It is lightweight, does not scratch surfaces (PP is softer than stone), and can be reused across multiple sites.

Protecting glass doors and stone tabletops during transport and installation: danpla is cut to size and fixed with double-sided tape. Cheaper than solid PE foam for the same function, and reusable.

8. Medical and Cleanroom Environments

Virgin PP danpla contains no plasticisers, BPA, or heavy metals - safe for ISO Class 7-8 cleanroom environments. It can be sterilised with UV light, 70% IPA alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide - all common methods in medical and semiconductor cleanrooms.

It does not rot and does not shed micro-particles (a major problem with EPS foam in cleanrooms). Its flat surface is easy to wipe clean - virgin PP danpla is increasingly replacing more expensive ABS plastic trays in many standard cleanroom applications.

Quick-Decision Table: Which Danpla for Which Industry?

Industry Recommended danpla type Thickness
Electronics, semiconductor ESD (dissipative or conductive) 3-4 mm
Logistics, warehousing Standard PP (virgin or recycled) 4 mm
Textiles, footwear Standard PP 3-4 mm
Automotive, mechanical Standard PP, higher thickness 5-6 mm
Agriculture, greenhouse UV-stabilised PP 4-6 mm
Advertising, print Virgin PP (uniform surface) 3-5 mm
Construction (surface protection) Standard PP 2-3 mm
Medical, cleanroom Virgin PP (non-recycled) 3-4 mm

Frequently asked questions about danpla applications

1. Can danpla be used in cold storage?

Yes. PP danpla withstands temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees C. At normal cold-storage temperatures (-5 to -18 degrees C), danpla does not become brittle or deform. Standard PP danpla is sufficient for cold storage - no special grade is needed.

2. Is danpla safe for direct food contact?

Virgin PP danpla is safe for direct food contact under FDA standards. A food-grade certificate must be requested from the supplier. Black ESD danpla and recycled danpla must not be used for direct food contact.

3. Does ICD Viet Nam deliver danpla to provinces outside the main cities?

Yes. ICD delivers nationwide by truck and trailer, or by commercial courier for small orders. Freight cost is calculated by weight or cubic metre depending on the route.

4. What tools are used to cut danpla?

Fine-tooth circular saw (TCT blade), sharp utility knife, CNC router, or hot knife. Danpla is easier to cut than wood or solid plastic. A skilled worker can cut 2-3 mm sheets with a good utility knife; sheets of 4 mm and above require a circular saw.
