What Is a Low-Lift Pallet Jack? Types, Specs and Xilin Prices 2026

June 6, 2026 — Lê Văn Thăng

A low-lift pallet jack raises pallets 85-205 mm and moves them on flat floors. ICD Vietnam stocks Xilin models from 2,000 to 5,000 kg with a 2-year warranty.

A low-lift pallet jack is a hydraulic hand-operated device that raises a pallet 85-205 mm off the floor and moves it horizontally across a flat surface. ICD Vietnam stocks the full Xilin (Ningbo Ruyi) range of low-lift pallet jacks with load capacities of 2,000-5,000 kg, prices from 3 million VND, and a 2-year manufacturer warranty. This is the most widely used pallet-moving solution in factories, cold stores, ports, and supermarkets.

Choose a low-lift pallet jack when:

  • Moving pallets on a flat surface: concrete floors, epoxy floors, inside containers - no need to lift goods onto high racking.
  • Handling heavy loads of 2,000-5,000 kg: boxed goods, wooden pallets carrying components, agricultural produce.
  • Working in tight spaces: aisles 1.2-1.5 m wide, warehouses with many corners - turning radius 1,265 mm, easy to maneuver.

What is a low-lift pallet jack?

A low-lift pallet jack (also called a hand pallet truck or hand pallet jack) is a hydraulic hand-operated lifting device designed to raise a pallet 85-205 mm off the floor and move it laterally inside a warehouse, factory, or in and out of a container.

The key difference from a high-lift pallet stacker: a low-lift pallet jack does not raise loads onto racking - it only raises the pallet far enough to clear the floor and transport it. In return, load capacity is higher (up to 5,000 kg) and the price is significantly lower.

A low-lift pallet jack has four main components:

  • Forks: heavy-gauge steel, 1,150-1,220 mm long, 150 mm wide per fork - the blades that slide into the pallet. Two fork-width options: narrow (550 mm overall width) and wide (685 mm overall width).
  • Handle: integrates a hydraulic pump with three modes - raise (pump), lower, and travel (neutral). Some models include a squeeze brake.
  • Hydraulic system: built-in welding-free pump that does not leak - the cylinder pushes the forks up on each pump stroke; a release valve allows safe lowering.
  • Wheels: rear steering wheel (Nylon/PU, 200 mm) plus four front load wheels (80 mm) - PU wheels protect epoxy floors; Nylon wheels carry higher loads.

Xilin low-lift pallet jack model range

The Xilin low-lift pallet jacks distributed by ICD are grouped into three series by fork width and load capacity:

Group 1 - Standard narrow fork (550 mm overall width):

  • 2,500 kg - Model DF III: 2,500 kg capacity, 200 mm lift height, 1,220 x 550 mm forks. Suits standard 1,000 x 1,200 mm pallets. View DF III model details.
  • 5,000 kg - Model WB5000: 5,000 kg capacity, 205 mm lift height, 1,150-1,220 mm forks. For very heavy loads: steel coils, industrial machinery. View 5-tonne model details.

Group 2 - Wide fork (685 mm overall width):

  • 2,000 kg - Model DB: 2,000 kg capacity, 1,120 x 685 mm forks. For Euro pallets (1,200 x 800 mm) or wide loads such as sheet steel or timber panels. View 2T wide-fork model details.

Group 3 - Extra-narrow fork (452 mm overall width):

  • For cold-store pallets, narrow containers, and aisles only 900-1,000 mm wide. Load capacity 2,000-2,500 kg.

Low-lift pallet jack vs high-lift pallet stacker: comparison

These two types are often confused when buying for the first time. The table below helps identify which type suits a specific warehouse requirement:

Criterion High-lift pallet stacker Xilin low-lift pallet jack
Max lift height 1,600-3,000 mm 85-205 mm
Max load capacity 1,000-2,000 kg 2,000-5,000 kg
Primary use Lifting onto racking, high stacking Horizontal transport, loading/unloading containers
Floor requirement Level, open Level (concrete, epoxy, timber)
Construction More complex, with mast assembly Simple, lightweight, easy to maintain
Reference price 10-35 million VND 3-15 million VND
Xilin ICD warranty 2 years 2 years

Quick selection rule: if goods need to go above 300 mm onto racking - choose a high-lift pallet stacker. If only horizontal transport or container loading is needed - a low-lift pallet jack is sufficient and considerably cheaper.

Choosing the right low-lift pallet jack - ICD 5-question checklist

Before placing an order, answer these five questions to identify the correct model:

  1. What is the maximum load weight of the heaviest single pallet? - Choose a truck rated at least 20% above the heaviest pallet. Example: 2,000 kg pallet - choose a 2,500 kg rated truck. Never select an exact-match rating as it degrades the hydraulic system much faster.
  2. What are the dimensions of the pallets currently in use? - Standard Vietnamese 1,000 x 1,200 mm pallets use a narrow 550 mm overall width fork. Euro 800 x 1,200 mm pallets or wide timber panels need a wide 685 mm fork.
  3. How wide are the aisles in the warehouse? - Aisles under 1 m: choose the extra-narrow fork model (452 mm overall width). Aisles 1.2-1.5 m: any standard model is suitable.
  4. What type of floor does the warehouse have? - Epoxy or painted floors: use PU wheels to avoid leaving marks. Rough concrete floors: Nylon wheels offer better abrasion resistance.
  5. How many hours per day will the truck be used? - Under 4 hours/day: a standard hydraulic hand pallet jack is sufficient. Over 6 hours/day continuously: consider a powered low-lift pallet truck to reduce operator fatigue and increase throughput.

Common mistakes when buying a low-lift pallet jack

After more than 15 years advising factories and logistics operators on handling equipment, ICD Vietnam has recorded the five most common mistakes that lead businesses to buy the wrong truck or replace it prematurely:

1. Choosing a rated capacity with no safety margin

Many warehouses buy a 2,500 kg truck to lift 2,500 kg pallets. The result: the hydraulic system deteriorates within 6-8 months because it is always running at 100% capacity. ICD’s rule: the actual load should not exceed 80% of the truck’s rated capacity.

2. Buying no-name trucks for 2-2.5 million VND from the market

Trucks of unknown origin typically use thin steel and low-quality hydraulic cylinders - they usually leak oil or suffer broken forks within 3-6 months of heavy use. The combined repair and replacement cost ends up higher than buying a genuine Xilin truck from the start.

3. Not checking the overall fork width against the pallet in use

Buying a 550 mm narrow-fork truck to handle a 685 mm pallet - the forks cannot enter the pallet pockets and the unit must be returned. Before buying, measure the distance between the pallet pockets and choose a truck with an overall width at least 20 mm less than that measurement.

4. Using a low-lift pallet jack on a sloped or uneven floor

A low-lift pallet jack has no self-holding brake when stopped on a slope. Floor gradients above 3 degrees are dangerous - the load can roll during operation. If the warehouse has ramps, use a powered truck with an electromagnetic brake or a ride-on electric forklift.

5. Skipping routine maintenance

Xilin low-lift pallet jacks only need simple maintenance: check hydraulic oil every 3 months and grease the wheels every 6 months. Skipping this reduces service life from 5-7 years down to 2-3 years.

Frequently asked questions about low-lift pallet jacks

1. How long is the warranty on a Xilin low-lift pallet jack?

ICD Vietnam provides a 2-year manufacturer warranty on all Xilin low-lift pallet jack models. During the warranty period, ICD supplies parts and carries out repairs free of charge at the customer’s site (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces).

2. Can a low-lift pallet jack be used in a cold store?

Yes. Xilin produces a cold-storage version with hydraulic oil rated down to -20 degrees C and PU wheels suited to low temperatures. When ordering, clearly state the storage temperature so ICD can recommend the correct model.

3. Is a 200 mm lift height enough to load goods onto a truck?

For containers and trucks with a floor height of 1.1-1.4 m, a loading dock ramp is required so the pallet jack can enter the vehicle. A low-lift pallet jack cannot raise goods from ground level directly onto a truck bed - that is the role of a ride-on electric stacker or counterbalance forklift.

4. How many hours per day should one operator use a low-lift pallet jack?

The recommended limit is 4-6 hours per day for a single operator using a hydraulic hand pallet truck continuously. Above that level, operators should rotate or the operation should be upgraded to a powered low-lift pallet truck to reduce physical strain and increase throughput.

5. Is it advisable to buy a second-hand Xilin low-lift pallet jack?

Not recommended. Used pallet jacks have typically had hydraulic cylinder repairs that are difficult to verify. New Xilin trucks start from 3.2 million VND, and the price difference over a used unit does not justify the risk or the absence of a warranty.
