When to choose a blanket instead of a hanging bag

  • Cargo stacked against the roof and walls: there is no gap left to hang a bag, so a flat blanket is placed straight on top of the pallet or cartons.
  • Containers or trailers with no lashing rings: there are no points to hook a hanging bag.
  • Refrigerated containers (reefers): the manufacturer states it suits reefers and trailers with no hanging rings.
  • Installing outside the container: the blanket can be placed on the pallet before it goes into the container, with no reaching up high.

When the container wall has convenient corrugation and rings, the Hanging-C 1.0 kg hanging bag is usually faster. The two forms can be used together.

How to place the Blanket-C

Lay the blanket horizontally on top of the cargo; the calcium chloride draws moisture from the air through the breathable HDPE layer and turns into a gel thanks to the modified starch. Use the supplied adhesive patches to fix it so the blanket does not slide when the container shakes. Only remove the sealed plastic wrap right before placing it. Each box has a QR code linking to an installation video.

Number of blankets for 20ft and 40ft containers

Long (about 60 days) Dry cargo 3 blankets 5 blankets
Long (about 60 days) Humid cargo 5 blankets 7 blankets

The actual quantity depends on transit time, climate, the volume of air in the container, the type of packaging and the type of goods. These are reference levels from the manufacturer, and ICD advises the specific quantity for your shipment.

Safety and disposal

Calcium chloride causes serious eye irritation (H319, under GHS). Wear gloves when handling, and dispose of it after use under local waste regulations. The product is single use. The desiccant has SGS test results passing RoHS and REACH SVHC (September 2025).

Condensation protection for palletized export goods should go together with PE stretch film for pallets that is sealed well enough and with pallets that have been treated for moisture. The principle is covered in what is a desiccant.
