The AbsorGel Pouch-S is a single-layer HDPE calcium chloride desiccant packet in sizes from 25 g to 125 g, placed directly in cartons, wooden crates and large boxes to prevent mold, rust and musty odor. Calcium chloride (over 94%) mixed with starch absorbs over 250% of its weight in real conditions and then turns into a gel. The Pouch-S suits large cartons and crates best, while small cartons with packets close against the goods should use the two-layer Pouch-D.

When to use the Pouch-S
- Large cartons, wooden crates, sealed plastic boxes: choose the 100 g or 125 g packet for large volumes and the 25 g or 50 g packet for medium cartons.
- Metal goods, machinery, components: replaces or supplements VCI anti-corrosion film and paper in some industries, since calcium chloride absorbs the moisture in the carton directly.
- Garments, footwear, furniture: prevents mold and odor in sealed cartons on sea freight.
For goods packed by the full container that need a large amount, use the Hanging-C container hanging bag in addition to the packets in the cartons.
How to place the packet in a carton
Remove the sealed plastic wrap and lay the packet on the goods or on the bottom of the carton, without letting it sit on top of goods that scratch easily. The packet starts working as soon as the wrap is opened. Calcium chloride turns into a gel so it does not run into droplets in the carton. The box has a QR code linking to an instruction video.
The manufacturer does not publish a fixed dosing table for packets inside cartons because the amount needed depends on transit time, climate, the volume of air in the carton, the type of packaging and the type of goods. Send ICD the carton size, the type of goods and the shipping route to calculate the right number of packets.
Safety
Calcium chloride causes serious eye irritation (H319, under GHS). Do not use where it touches food directly. Keep away from children and pets. For details on accidental swallowing and what to do, see what happens if you swallow a desiccant packet.

Frequently asked questions
How does the AbsorGel Pouch-S differ from the Pouch-D and Pouch-X?
The Pouch-S is a single HDPE layer, 25 to 125 g, for large cartons. The Pouch-D is two layers (non-woven and HDPE), 2 to 50 g, for small cartons and contact against the goods. The Pouch-X is for containers and cartons, in 100 g and 125 g sizes.
Does the Pouch-S desiccant packet leak water?
The calcium chloride in the packet turns into a gel thanks to the modified starch so leaking is limited. You still need to keep the packet intact and not place it under sharp objects.
Should I choose a 25 g or 125 g packet for my carton?
It depends on the carton volume, transit time and type of goods. Send the carton size and route to ICD for a specific calculation.
Can a Pouch-S packet be reused?
No. It is a single-use product. Calcium chloride that has absorbed its full load of moisture cannot be restored in ordinary conditions.
