HDPE plastic pallet technical specifications
The three most common HDPE sizes in Vietnam are 1100×1100 mm, 1200×1000 mm and 1200×800 mm. When reading specifications, it is important to distinguish three load ratings that differ several times over: static load (stacked in place) is always the highest, dynamic load (moved by forklift) is lower, and racking load (supported only at two ends, unsupported in the middle) is the lowest. Choosing the wrong rating is a common mistake that causes pallets to sag or break on racks. The table below summarises reference figures by size.

HDPE pallets in cold storage and outdoor environments
HDPE retains its toughness at deep sub-zero temperatures, an advantage few suppliers state clearly. In -25°C cold rooms used by the seafood and frozen food industries, HDPE pallets do not become brittle and crack like many other plastics, because the embrittlement temperature of HDPE is around -40°C to -50°C. This is why HDPE pallets are preferred for the cold chain over wooden pallets, which readily absorb moisture, freeze and grow mould in cold environments.
Conversely, outdoor use requires attention to UV weakness. Untreated virgin HDPE has poor UV resistance; prolonged sun exposure makes it brittle and faded after 1-2 years. If pallets are kept outdoors regularly, choose HDPE with UV-stabilising additives from the manufacturing stage. Recommendation: state the usage condition (cold storage, indoor or outdoor) when ordering so we can advise the right plastic formulation.
