Cross-pattern plastic pallets have a cruciform (cross-shaped) underside that gives true 4-way fork entry from any aisle direction while staying rigid under load. ICD moulds them in virgin HDPE at 1100×1100 mm and 1200×1000 mm, with dynamic load 1,500 kg, static load 4,000 kg and beam-rack load 1,000 kg. Choose cross-pattern pallets when:
- 4-way access is essential: reach trucks and turret trucks enter from any of the four sides without re-positioning.
- High-rotation distribution: faster put-away and picking when aisle direction varies.
- Rigid racked storage: the cross ribs resist deflection across the beam gap.

2. Cross-pattern vs runner base – the 4-way difference
The underside shape decides how many directions a fork can enter. A runner (skid) base gives 2-way entry along the open sides only. A cross-pattern (cruciform) base opens channels on all four sides, so a reach truck or turret truck can approach from any aisle without turning the pallet.
That matters most in narrow-aisle and high-rotation warehouses where pallets are picked from changing directions: 4-way entry removes the re-positioning step and speeds throughput. The cross ribs also stiffen the deck against the beam gap, so it holds 1,000 kg on a rack like a full 9-foot warehouse pallet. If you only ever load from two sides with a hand truck, a cheaper three-runner pallet is enough.

1. Is a cross-pattern pallet truly 4-way?
Yes – the cruciform underside opens fork channels on all four sides, unlike a 2-way runner base.
2. What racking load is safe?
1,000 kg per beam position (keep a 20% margin). On shelving the full 4,000 kg static applies.
3. Cross-pattern or warehouse 9-foot?
