The Malaysia-imported plastic pallets that ICD Vietnam distributes are Intraco pallets made by See Hau Global Sdn. Bhd. (Kuala Lumpur, founded in 1994): 135 SKUs across six pallet series (X, M, H, S, A and P), deck top frames and solid plastic bins. Static load ranges from 2,000 to 8,000 kg, sizes run from 740 x 740 mm to 1960 x 1960 mm, and every pallet carries a 2-year warranty.

I am Le Van Thang, and I have worked with pallets at ICD Vietnam since 2011. This article was first published in 2019, when we introduced the pallet series of Mah Sing (MSPI). Since 2026 the Malaysian line on the ICD Vietnam website has been Intraco, so I have rewritten the whole piece. The first part covers the series now on sale, how to read the model codes and what to check before you buy. The second part keeps the 2019 series information so that long-time customers can map their old pallets to the matching current series.

ICD Vietnam distributes the complete range of genuine Malaysia-imported plastic pallets: 135 SKUs in 8 series. Typical models include the ICD-H1450R4-2A heavy-duty pallet, the ICD-S1212S4-2P ultra-hygienic pallet, the ICD-A1210S4-2M for ASRS automated racking and the ICD-X1311D4-1A one-way export pallet.

Malaysia-imported plastic pallet series distributed by ICD Vietnam

ICD Vietnam distributes 6 Intraco pallet series plus pallet top frames (2 SKUs) and solid plastic bins (6 SKUs). The largest ranges are the S ultra-hygienic series with 41 SKUs, the H heavy-duty series with 40 SKUs and the X export series with 31 SKUs; the A automated-racking series has 10 SKUs, the M medium-duty series has 3 and the P pharmaceutical series has 2. One series contains many SKUs with different sizes, heights and load ratings, so when you order you need to confirm the exact model code, not just the series. Customers who ask me, “How much is a 1200 x 1000 Malaysian pallet?” often do not realise that this size exists in the M, H, S, A and P series, each with a different structure and a different load rating.

How to read an Intraco pallet code

An Intraco code tells you the series, the deck size, the deck type and the number of entry directions. For example, H1512R4-1A is a heavy-duty pallet with a 1500 x 1200 mm deck and 4-way entry. The first letter is the series: X one-way export, M medium duty, H heavy duty, S ultra-hygienic, A automated racking, P pharmaceutical.

The next four digits are the deck size, usually in decimetres, so 1512 means 1500 x 1200 mm. The one exception is 4840, the 48 x 40 inch standard, or 1220 x 1016 mm, used for freight to the US and Canada. According to the catalogue, the character after that gives the deck type (S for single-faced, D for double-faced), and the digit 4 or 2 is the number of entry directions; S1513R2, for instance, is 2-way entry only. The suffix after the hyphen marks a mould, material or load variant. Two codes with the same size but different suffixes are two different products and cannot replace each other. This is the most common mistake I see when customers reorder by size alone.

What are the advantages of Malaysia-imported plastic pallets?

The main advantages of Intraco pallets are a wide range of codes for each need, static loads up to 8,000 kg, 4-way entry on most codes, and dedicated series for ASRS racking and pharmaceuticals. The M and P series carry a static load of 4,000 kg; the H and A series up to 6,000 kg; some S-series codes reach 8,000 kg. The A series is 160 to 185 mm high and is designed specifically for conveyors and automated rack bays. You can also read our article on what pallet pooling is.

On material, the S and P series use virgin HDPE for hygiene-sensitive areas, while the X series uses polypropylene copolymer (PPC), which the catalogue describes as recycled plastic and which suits one-way freight. According to the Intraco catalogue, the products meet the ISO 8611 standard series covering test methods for the rated load, maximum working load and strength of flat pallets.

On manufacturing capacity, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) lists See Hau Global as exporting pallets to more than 25 countries, including Vietnam, and the manufacturer states a capacity of about 4 million pallets a year. For a buyer, that figure matters because the common codes are produced continuously, so a repeat order placed several years later can still be filled with exactly the same code.

What should you check when buying Malaysia-imported plastic pallets?

When you buy Malaysian pallets, check the exact code against the catalogue, the load rating for how you will really use the pallet, the material, the origin and the warranty, rather than comparing prices by size alone. These are the five points I go through with customers before an order is confirmed:

• The product code matches the catalogue on series, size and suffix, because a different suffix means a different design.
• Static load, dynamic load and racking load match how the goods are actually stacked in your warehouse.
• The material is virgin HDPE for hygiene and pharmaceutical areas; PPC should be used only for one-way export freight.
• Origin documents: plastic pallets fall under HS code 3923.90.90, and a shipment from Malaysia with a Form D certificate of origin can be considered for preferential tariffs under the ATIGA agreement.
• The 2-year warranty terms and the delivery location, including whether a forklift will receive the goods at your warehouse.

The Form D certificate of origin is the document used to claim tariff preferences between ASEAN countries under the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA). When a company imports directly, ask the supplier to issue the C/O right from the negotiation stage; when buying through a domestic distributor, ask for the CO and CQ document set that accompanies the shipment if your project file requires it.

In my experience there are two cases where Malaysian imported pallets are the better choice over locally made ones: an ASRS warehouse that needs tight dimensional tolerance and exact heights for the conveyor, and cargo that needs large or unusual pallet sizes such as 1700 x 1700, 1800 x 1600 or 1960 x 1960 mm. For a general warehouse using 1100 x 1100 or 1200 x 1000 mm, place an imported sample and a local sample side by side, compare racking load and delivery time, and only then choose.

Which current series match the 2019 Mah Sing series?

Most of the needs covered by the 2019 series have a matching Intraco series today. The table below maps them by purpose so that customers who bought the older pallets can reorder correctly.

In 2019, ICD Vietnam Industrial Manufacturing Co., Ltd. introduced the pallet series of Mah Sing Plastics Industries Sdn. Bhd. (MSPI), founded in Malaysia on 15 October 1979 as a subsidiary of Mah Sing Group Bhd. At that time MSPI had received several awards, including the BrandLaureate SMEs Chapter Award for the best brand in plastics manufacturing in 2008, the Award for Excellence in Innovative Products from Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 2004, and supplier awards from Samsung Electronics (M) in 2006 and 2008.

The One Way series is a warehouse plastic pallet for single-trip sea and air freight: lightweight, no fumigation needed unlike wooden pallets, recyclable, and widely used in electronics, food, beverages, chemicals and petrochemicals. Light Duty is the light-load series with a non-slip surface that is easy to wash, made for stacking cartons or plastic boxes. Medium Duty is the medium-load series for general use in factories and warehouses, with a solid deck that works on racking as well as stacked on the floor.

Heavy Duty is the heavy-load double-deck series for storage warehouses, automated warehouses and guided-vehicle systems, widely used in food, chemicals, fertiliser, plantations and flour mills. Hygiene has a closed, smooth surface that is easy to clean, for HACCP and GMP environments such as paper and printing, food, beverages, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Metal Reinforced is strengthened with metal bars for extra stiffness on racking and in automated warehouses, available with a vented grid deck or a flat deck, plus a lid and locking system.

Jumbo is a durable double-deck series for bagged goods such as flour, rice, fertiliser, sugar and petrochemicals. Pharmaceutical has smooth, flat top and bottom faces for pharmaceutical cleanrooms, food processing, dairy and confectionery. Finally, the Spill Pallet is a containment pallet for drums and square containers of liquids that catches leaks to limit contamination, suited to companies applying ISO 14001. The two needs of light load and spill containment currently have no matching Intraco series, so they require separate advice on choosing a code.
